We have two versions of this dish at Salumeria. The Chicken which is made with chicken breast and the pork where we use prime pork fillet.
This dish came to be for a few reasons. When we began searching inspiration for our concept it became clear to us very quickly that the capital city of Valletta was brimming with amazing restaurants. Awesome from a foodie perspective but daunting from our view point. Setting up shop in the heart of Valletta, we definitely did not want to try and impose ourselves on long standing , outstanding restaurants and other eateries.
For this very reason we decided that we wanted to forge ahead with our idea and concept. Create a place with a different menu. Our evening menu centres upon one of our mantra hashtags: #sharingiscaring
Trying to create a menu that centres around sharing options, nibbles and things to complement a fun night out and not your standard sit down dinner type of thing. (we have burgers on the menu for those who with a juicy burger craving).

This is how this dish came to be, owing also to our Dutch heritage. This is sometimes served in Dutch bars to accompany beers and other drinks. Whilst it would fill up one person as a meal, it can also be enjoyed with a couple of friends, nibbling on something in order to ward off the drunkenness!
What you get are 4 marinated (chicken/pork) skewers these are marinated in house and made from scratch. They are served on a version of thick cut skin on potato fries. This is presented with a portion of our Peanut Satay sauce on the side. Our Satay sauce is not typical to what is found in the Maltese Islands, instead its an Indonesian version, based on Sweet Soy sauce instead of your usual Darker versions.
